Australia Ping Test
Ping any IP or domain from our Sydney server to measure latency from Oceania.
Measured on our own looking-glass servers.
This Australia ping test measures round-trip latency from our Sydney server to any IP address or domain.
Australia is one of the most isolated major internet regions: almost every route to the rest of the world leaves through cables that land near Sydney, and latency to Europe or North America is measured in hundreds of milliseconds.
What Is an Australia Ping Test?
An Australia ping test measures the round-trip time from inside Australia to a target anywhere on the internet. It is the fastest way to see what an Australian visitor experiences when connecting to a server hosted overseas.
Because Australian traffic is concentrated through a handful of submarine cables landing near Sydney, results are usually very consistent: the same target shows a stable latency rather than a wide range.
What You Need to Run the Test
A valid target: an IPv4 address or a domain name, resolved by the server itself.
An ICMP-reachable host. A server that blocks ping will appear unreachable even if it is online.
A short run of four packets, which is normally enough because Australian routes are stable.
How to Run an Australia Ping Test
Enter the IP address or hostname you want to test from Australia.
Press Start AU Ping. The Sydney server pings the target and reports each packet.
Read the summary cards and the table row for packet loss, average, minimum and maximum latency.
How to Use Your Australia Ping Results
Judge whether a Southeast Asian or US West deployment serves Australian users better than a European one.
Verify whether a CDN edge in Sydney is actually answering local traffic.
Set realistic expectations for games and video calls: crossing the Pacific costs 150-200 ms, and reaching Europe costs 250-300 ms.
Detect routing detours: if a target in Asia answers slower than one in the United States, the route is going the wrong way.
When an Australia Ping Test Does Not Help
ICMP ping measures reachability and round-trip time, not application performance. It will not explain a slow page load or a DNS problem. A single Sydney vantage point also cannot represent every Australian ISP or city. Hosts that block ICMP appear unreachable even when they are online.
Australia Ping Test vs Global Ping Test
The Australia ping test uses our Sydney server and is the most accurate way to check Oceania latency, because it is the same kind of measurement from the same vantage point every time. The global ping test adds European nodes and a world map view, which is better for comparing Australia against other continents. Use the regional page for Oceania-specific checks and the global page for a worldwide comparison.
Other Regional Ping Tests
- Europe Ping Test — Ping any IP or domain from 6 servers across the Netherlands, France, Germany and England.
- US Ping Test — Ping any IP or domain from 4 servers in Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta and New York.
- Americas Ping Test — Ping from New York, Vancouver and Sao Paulo to cover North and South America together.
- Asia Ping Test — Ping any IP or domain from 6 Asian locations: Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Jakarta and Ho Chi Minh City.
- Middle East Ping Test — Ping any IP or domain from 4 Middle East nodes in Israel and Iran.
- Turkey Ping Test — Ping any IP or domain from 2 Istanbul servers on the bridge between Europe and Asia.
Testing a host from several continents at once? The global ping test pings your target from all of our nodes and draws every result on a world map. For a single known host, the Quick Ping pages are faster.
