How the Ping Stability Test Works
Our ping stability test runs continuous ICMP ping packets from 7 global server locations to your target host. Unlike a standard ping test that only sends a few packets, the stability test sustains testing for 30 seconds to 5 minutes, capturing latency fluctuations, jitter, and intermittent packet loss that only appear over time.
The test calculates a comprehensive stability score from 0 to 100 based on three key metrics: round-trip time standard deviation (mdev), jitter (mean absolute difference between consecutive samples), and packet loss percentage. A score above 85 indicates excellent network stability, while below 40 suggests poor connection quality that may affect gaming, VoIP, and streaming.
Use the ping stability test to diagnose intermittent network issues, verify connection quality for competitive online gaming, or monitor ISP performance over time. The real-time latency chart visualizes every individual RTT sample, making it easy to spot lag spikes and inconsistency at a glance.
